CL Hawks Snap 6 Game Losing Streak in Win over Hidalgo, 62-46

CL Hawks finish first day of the Fredericksburg Tourney with a 1-1 record after disposing of the Hidalgo Pirates in their night-cap game, 62-46.

This was by far one of Canyon Lake’s best shooting games this season, with right at 60% from the field and an 83% from the free throw line. A start to finish contest with CL scoring a low of 13 to a high of 18 points during each of those 4 periods of play.

Caimen McDonough dominated the paint scoring 20 points after hitting 9 of 13 shots while sharp shooter, Parker Mott with 19 points and dishing out 4 assists in the game.

A total team effort as that 6 game losing streak was snapped in grand fashion with Jarred Rollins pitching in leading the Hawks with 7 rebounds and 5 assists.

Every Hawk player but one finished the night hitting 50% or higher from the field as Coach Chapman had a smile that would last all the way home with this victory.

Scoring 19 points off of just 11 Hidalgo turnovers was a key in this win as the Hawks would outscore the Pirates with a deeper bench in scoring 17 points from those players.

Just 16 rebounds by Hidalgo in this contest as the Hawks did not miss very many shots while half of those bounds came on the Pirates offensive glass.

Canyon Lake will have two more tough games on Thursday when they will match up with Cleburne and Graham in this round-robin tournament.
