Lady Hawks Beat Billies for Share of District 28-4A Championship
Reagan Heun finished her last home game scoring 22 points in win over Fredericksburg.
Canyon Lake Hawks are almost there as they took care of the Billies, 49-38 in a battle for sole possession of the top spot in District 28-4A play.

CL has one more game next Tuesday on the road in Bandera for a chance with an outright title if the Hawks can get that win.
The Hawks took a quick 7 point lead in this game before a Fredericksburg rally and a one point lead entering the next period. In that 2nd Quarter, the game was still tight as both teams were knotted up with 15 points before another Hawk run to end that segment and enjoying a 7 point lead going into halftime.
Reagan Heun finished her last game at home scoring 22 points from all over the court and making life for the Billies an uphill battle through the rest of the contest. Heun has put herself on a high perch, as she now owns the best scoring total for a season topping the 500 point plateau.
Ashley Pfaff has had that place since 2009-10 season during that 19-10 group of ladies who were the last CL Girls Basketball Team to have a winning district slate. Granted, Pfaff had her day on the court with less games, but making this lofty goal is still a great accomplishment that is well deserved.

Heun has been making her own wake at The Lake in being on top of the All-Time Scoring List for a while as she passed Kate Williams at the end of last season and has now added more points and an enormous gulf between these two players.
Alexa Ramos scored 11 points in this win and has now put herself in prime position with a chance to pass Williams with a guarantee of two more chances to bounce the ball on the court.

This has been a special year for this Lady Hawk Basketball squad and having a chance to be the 3rd Team able to hang a District Championship Banner in their rafters following the 2015 Volleyball and 2017 Football teams.

Defense was the name of the game and year so far with another victim having failed to reach the 40 point plateau against the Hawks. Canyon Lake failed to hold Boerne in that first district contest after scoring 58 points in a Hawk loss. All the other contests have seen CL with a solid defensive effort.
On this current 6 game winning streak, Canyon Lake, has held their district opponents to a 33.8 points per game average, as this continues to be the calling card for this year’s team.
Helping with this win had CL having just 12 turnovers and a decent 39% from beyond the arc and a very good 49% field goal percentage. Being consistent in those areas allowed Canyon Lake to weather the Billie rallies and increase their lead throughout a contest that will go down as one of the biggest conquests for the Hawks!!
Now a game on Tuesday in Bandera, and with a win, an outright Championship in District 28-4A. A Boerne win has the Greyhounds with a chance to finish 2nd and that too, would solidify a Hawk Championship without having to share those honors.
