==================================================================
Canyon Lake had their longest day of the year last week as there were countless games being played and the Hawks held their own.
We will start with Basketball as both teams lost their bid to continue in the UIL Tournament. The Boys could not make key shots and free throws to their narrow loss to Wimberley. CL’s Ladies met a superior team in SA Veterans Memorial and held close for 3 quarters but that last stanza put the game out of reach.
Both teams have built a strong platform to have playoff repeats as the Ladies are armed with several Sophomores while the Boys have just completed their 3rd season qualifying for the post-season.
The Lady Soccer team won both of their contests last week which will put them in the playoffs as they will start their 2nd round of games in district play.
CL’s Boys Soccer lost a hear breaker against Fredericksburg as the winning goal was made with just 3 minutes from the final horn. Just the 2nd loss this season as this group will prepare for Boerne this week to right their ship and a must win if this crew would like to win District 27-4A play.
Baseball lost their first game by one run to Llano last Monday and then battled the weather and won 2 games on Saturday to bring them to a 2-1 record with another tournament in Devine this week.
Softball started the season with a heavy dose of 5 and 6A schools and that took a toll that resulted in 8 straight losses. CL’s Softball crew got back with a good ending of the week when they won 3 straight games to end a rain shorten week-end.
Track & Field had a super Lobo Relays as all 4 teams finished either 1st or 2nd against several 5A and 6A schools.
All of the sports will be back at it this week and if you have a chance get out and see some exciting sports.
Go Hawks!!
