Nothing to see Here….Keep Moving, Hawks Lose, 20-4, Keep Moving
Canyon Lake had a rough day at the office after allowing the Fredericksburg Billies 17 batters in the 2nd inning and giving up 10 runs for their first loss in District 28-4A play, 20-4.
“We’ve got to forget about it,” Head Coach John Gallagher said as he checked his neck for whiplash. “Just erase it from our memory, but use it for motivation.”
If CL can use it for motivation then I will feel sorry for Bandera in that next contest because there will be motivation coming out the whazoo, if motivation can be focused on that next time on the field of competition.
The Billies got their revenge after the Hawks won the first battle and now both teams will need to win next week for a chance to play again and have a play-off for the first seed before the playoffs commence.
CL will need to get amnesia quickly, as forgetting this night would be a good way of clearing the cobwebs. A fresh start will be needed when this team goes to Bandera for their last contest for this year of district games.
Errors decided to stay for another game as that 2nd inning had 3 hits that, added together, would have not reached the pitching circle and adding errors sprinkled into the equation had an inning to forget. Seventeen Billies reached the plate in that long——long——inning.
Marley Carrizales did have 3 hits for her three times coming into the batter’s box which was the extent of the damage on this night for all those underclassman.
“We need to work harder in practice,” Carrizales said in response to how the team will need to digest this loss. “We will come back harder and work on making the routine play.”
Routine plays were the down fall on this night as those 7 errors would attest to the carnage that was left on the field during this game.
For the two young ladies that had their Senior Night, the story would be different, when Adriana Zunker drove in a run on a fielders choice but also had a hard hit single earlier in this contest. Then Maggie Banks hit a bomb over the left field flag pole for a lead off home run to start that final inning of play.
One other item that stayed in tact was Bailey Bryan being hit by a pitch, keeping her streak of getting on base in every game this season going unscathed.
After those items mentioned above, there was really nothing to see here, as you pass where there are a lot of Policeman and they just wave you on as the traffic needs to keep moving past the scene of the accident.
Nothing to see here….just keep moving.
And Go Hawks!!
