Canyon Lake’s Baseball Team took it on the Chin last week in their Bi-District contest with Wimberley.

That opening sentence has some major truths for Hawk fans to take note of, but the main item that was not even a thought as this past school year started was having this group qualifying for a post-season battle.

Not even on the radar for those who studied Hawk Sports to know how down this group of players had been in the past few campaigns. CL Baseball up unto this loss was the only sport with a winning playoff record.

Now, with the Texan loss, Hawk Baseball has an even .500 record. That too, is the only sport that can say those words.

This 2018 Baseball season had Canyon Lake’s Baseball was last in recent play off contests and now can safely be in the fold with every other Hawk Team Sport as this was a banner year for the Sports Department that can now claim a Baseball Bi-District T-Shirt just like every other CL team did this school year.

The game with Wimberley was not pretty but the overall picture will and cannot be downtrodden.

‘We cannot let that last inning summarize the whole year,” Head Coach Victor Escamilla summed up. “We had a lot of firsts and we have a lot of players coming back next year and they will be looking to take that next step to get a Gold Ball!’

That Gold Ball is what is secured for teams that win during the post-season.

Canyon Lake will be losing 4 Seniors that hung in there and now know that perseverance will be a common element for their career when they enter the work force.

A Great Year for this group of young men and a well deserved accomplishment.

You put an exclamation point to the end of this sporting season and good luck to the Seniors and come back stronger for the returnees.

Go Hawks!!
