Was there a super star on the court Friday night for the Canyon Lake volleyball team? Nope! Because they were all stars. In a three-match sweep against Boerne, the Lady Hawks played in sync with one another as if they had played volleyball together since they were six years old.

       Way to Go Hawks!!

Blocking monsters, like Paige Bower, Cassidy Felps, Adia Garcia, Caroline Kullberg, Riley Mickey and Kayla Wunderlich, let very few of Boerne’s spikes make it over the net. At the same time these young women blasted the greyhounds with well-placed spikes and tips that the opposition could not return. Though the scores in each game were close, any onlooker could see that the Hawks were playing with team.

“Yes, finally!” Coach Kim Paisley said with a smile from ear to ear, obviously proud of the teamwork she saw out on the court.

When a fan asked what she had fed the team before the game she said, “Nothing, just my words. All week my words!”

            Way to Go Hawks!!

The words paid off with evidence of the digging and chasing of stray hits by the back line. Tyler Hollums, Kaylee Moore, Lainee Moses and Mariah Haight were everywhere bumping the ball from places that seemed impossible to reach. In one instance Haight, realizing all she could do was to hit the ground and stretch out, slipped her hand down the court to keep the ball from hitting the  ground. Her effort worked, the ball bounced up off her hand and was sent over the net by Felps.

Canyon Lake volleyball, under the direction of Coach Paisley, has come into its own
Friday night’s game… now, this is team!

Go Hawks!
