Mountain Valley 8th ‘A’ Run Over Spring Branch MS, 42-20

Coach Pawelek giving some advice after a Wrangler wipe out, 42-20.

Mountain Valley destroyed Spring Branch Middle School opening up with 30 consecutive points as the Hawks averaged 21 yards per snap while piling up 369 yards on scoring plays for a convincing, 42-20 win.

         Way to Go Mountain Valley

MVMS A team started off in grand fashion with a three play drive covering 65 yards and Ty Sellers topping off this series of downs taking the rock for 59 yards and a quick lead that would never be threatened.

“I got good blocks from my offensive line,” Sellers said like a salesman. “We just went out and did our play.”

“This is one of those groups that understands football,” Head Coach Brandon Pawelek stated. “They harp on fundamentals and they can be a lot better.”

Would hate to be the school facing this Mountain Valley team when they are playing a lot better.

The Wranglers did move their next possession down to the Hawks 11 yard line but two incompletions stopped a promising drive and opening the door for more damage to be administered by MV.

Mountain Valley had another 3 play score that was highlighted by a Shayne Moss 77 yard run down the right sideline to pay dirt, 14-0.

SB would coax a 5 play and punt series which would have the Hawks needing to travel 89 yards for another score.

         Way to Go MV Hawks!!

That they did and this score went for 81 yards when QB Hunter Anderson found a wide open Chase Anderson (nepotism gone on steroids) and another long….long…touchdown play, 22-0.

This Hawk team was not ready for half-time refreshments after a muffed punt attempt by the Wranglers and a short field with Mountain Valley needing 33 yards for another score. Ty Sellers ran this ball in from 19 yards out after Helijah Johnson softened up the belly of this Wrangler team with two carries covering 14 yards.

Mountain Valley would keep the pressure on Spring Branch after forcing a fumble and a new set of downs. SB did have their best offensive play that went for 39 yards before that fumble. This Wrangler play had the Hawks backed up to their 4 yard line and needing 96 yards for another score after recovering the fumble.

Enter Moss making another sell that went for 91 yards and wowed the crowd and had Mountain Valley up by a, 36-0 score. This would be a first with a Hawk player averaging 77 yards a carry and then upping that with a longer jaunt to the goal line.

       Way to Grill the Wranglers.

Speaking of offensive and defensive line, Helijah Johnson made his presence known throughout this game, “I just did what we do in practice and hit the sleds and staying low.”

That technique worked well with Johnson and the rest of the offensive line stayed low enough to help the running backs to reach new heights.

Shayne Moss had the 1st & 3rd longest play from the line of scrimmage with his 91 and 77 yard runs and was just as quick with his rendition of this game, “We work hard in practice and we get the job done.”

Spring Branch came into this contest sporting a 3-1 record tied with Canyon MS for 2nd place who had beaten the Wranglers, 22-14 back during the middle part of September. This SBMS team had given up 50 points in those first 4 contests and MV could have reached that total and more if the Coaches would have kept the pressure through the whole game.

After allowing a touchdown to the visitors, Mountain Valley would not take long to respond. A 2 play drive with Tyler Balderas going 42 yards and having the Hawks taking flight and gliding through that last stanza and winning this game with ease, 42-20.

MVMS only had 8 offensive plays in that 2nd half with two scores that covered 133 yards.

The MV Hawks will be on the road at Oak Run Unicorns next week as they will look to keep pace with Smithson Valley Middle School and atop the league standings.

Go Hawks!!
