Lady Hawks Finish Johnson City Tournament with 2-2 Record.
Chelsea Tschoepe keeps climbing Hawk Stats Records.
Lady Hawks Basketball had a busy weekend after finishing the Johnson City Tournament with a 6-2 overall record after a break even Friday of games.

“Lots of turnovers again versus comfort,” Head Coach Zach Burleson said. “We had 17 in the first half.”
Those turnovers have to be matched by getting steals and forcing more than you give up. CL lost that Comfort game due to not taking care of the ball.
“We are focusing on this: it is imperative that we learn to take care of the ball. We have 3 goals and we have to accomplish each goal each game to be competitive in district,” Coach Burleson taught.
“We need to take care of the ball, block out and secure the rebounds, loose balls and play with high intensity on defense.”
Canyon Lake has their work cut-out for themselves as those missed free throws have to be improved on too. That one stat on the box scores below has the Hawks shooting below 50% from the charity stripe and that will make each game come down to a possession ballgame.
In that Comfort contest, missing 18 free throws in a 3 point loss was lethal and a hurdle that could not be overcome.
Defense has been present this season as that was one of the forte’s from last year’s team that finished that season going into the 3rd round of the post-season.
For the 2nd day of play in Johnson City, the Hawks, beat the host and lost to Huffington in grand fashion by over 20 points.
Take note, however, the Hawks were not dealing with a full deck in that loss as several players were scheduled for college entrance exam tests and that had just 7 Hawks suited up for that contest.

Both wins in the JC Tournament had CL committing 13 turnovers per game helping solidify Coach Burleson’s thoughts on improving that area of their game.
Chelsea Tschoepe led all scorers scoring 37 points in her 4 game tally. Sophia Barber was next scoring 29 points for the Hawks. Tschoepe passed the 400 barrier in points scored as she will work on passing 3 other Lady Hawks that finished their career in the 400 points totaled.

Not having Marley Carrizales and Lainee Moses in that Saturday loss had CL needing to replace 6 assists and 8 steals as that was those two ladies average in their 3 game stint for this weekend.
Canyon Lake will be sharing the gym on Tuesday with a Varsity tip-off at 5pm that will be followed by the Boys Basketball squad in their battle with San Marcos Home School.
Another quest for this year’s team is passing the .500 record percentage as this 6-2 record has The Lake just 7 wins from tying their loss total.
