Hawk JV Crew Continues Impressive Play with Win over Navarro, 60-35

Caleb Schimank was one of many Hawks that supplied pressure in win over Navarro.

Canyon Lake’s Junior Varsity continued their strong season after administering a cruel end to 2018 for the Panthers beating Navarro, 60-35.

Patrick McAuliffe led in scoring with 19 points with a personal best 3 blocks in this whitewash.

             Way to Go Hawks!!

That starting 5 had a slow start after a 12 point first quarter and no separation from this Panther JV squad.

It was those two middle periods when CL took off and left the home team grasping for straws. (no, those straws were not plastic)

The Lake had a 15-5 run during the 2nd quarter that was capped off by a perfect pass from Pearse McCullagh to Matt Taliaferro and a 31-19 halftime lead.

Canyon Lake did not have any drop-off with their wholesale substitutions as this second group of Hawks coming off the bench would continue adding to the lead.

Kyle Morris was one of those reinforcements that added fuel to this fire leading CL with 4 steals while shooting 4 for 5 from the field and dishing an assist.

Another one of those 2nd Tier players was Caleb Schimank who had a steal and 5 points during this firestorm, “I don’t think about playing time…I just like to play.”

Schimank continued, “I just go to it when I get out there and we have some great players and good chemistry.”

Don’t Give them any Comfort in the Country & Go Hawks!!

That same chemistry continued in starting the 2nd half, as CLJV’s press,  kept these Panthers in disarray ending these 8 minutes of play, harboring a 26 point advantage, 51-25.

The Hawks pulled off their suffocating press to end this contest during the 4th quarter.

This was a press that forced over 20 turnovers with 13 of those miscues resulting in steals. A defense that swatted 8 Navarro shots was also an instrumental ingredient in gathering this solid victory.

For the 5 games, The ReSporter  has covered this year’s Junior Varsity, the average score has been an impressive, 71-49 score.

That dominant quarter has been during the 3rd Period with an average tally with right at 25 points scored while giving up 12 points.

This contest was a carbon copy with a JV Hawk 14 point advantage in that same quarter and win.

The next game will be tomorrow on Wednesday when Center Point will bring there JV for a 11am tip-off.

Go Hawks!!
