     ===============================================================

              Way to Go Hawks!!

The Lady Hawks suffered their 4th loss in a row at Wimberley last Friday and will need to rebound this Tuesday at home when Llano comes to the Hawk Nest.

A loss to the Yellowjacks would put The Lake in a need to win out against Fredericksburg, a team, that has yet to lose and a team that has won all of their district contests by double digits. The Hawks lost by 21 to the Billies during their first round game.

There are 3 games remaining in the regular season as this will be the last full week of battles. In the loss to Wimberley, Canyon Lake lost this contest in the first quarter as their 9 point deficit would result in a 10 point set-back to the Texans.

Turnovers and shooting 10% from beyond the arc were factors in the loss as CL could only score 2 points to start the game

Chelsea Tschoepe led all scorers with 14 points and Jessie Melendez finished with 10 rebounds.

Melendez is averaging over 8 rebounds for the season and a hefty 11 in district play.

Canyon Lake Boys helped their cause in beating Wimberley and finishing the first round in 3rd place in their district race.

In the Hawks loss to Fredericksburg earlier, proved to be a good measuring stick as all the other District 28-4A Schools suffered a larger defeat point wise.

                    First Round Games vs. Freddie
                    Billies   49   CL Hawks     46      3 points
                    Billies   49   Wimberley    39     10 points
                    Billies   54   Boerne       39     15 points
                    Billies   60   Llano        31     29 points
                    Billies   84   Bandera      36     48 points

All games have their own script but one angle that might favor the Hawks would have that first game without Rico Griffin. That is an important puzzle piece to have out of commission for any district game much less against a team that finds themselves on top of the heap.

Consistency will be the key as this second round of district games get started this Tuesday as the Hawks will be looking to improve their seeding stature after that final regular season game.

Go Hawks!!
