Softball Fall to Canyon Cougers, 12-4

Hawk Pow-Wow after loss to Canyon, 12-4

Canyon Lake’s Softball team was battling the titans in their Canyon/Steele Tournament during the last three days.

On Saturday a game against a Final Four Canyon team last year ending this 3-day affair with 5 losses, but some confidence was gained in that last set-back with a good showing losing, 12-4.

Last year, The Lake, lost 15-0 in their final contest against Canyon and this time around a brief 1 run lead had these Cougars taking notice.

The Hawks had a hiccup in giving up 7 runs in the 2nd inning but take that one frame out and CL would be strong in the field, circle, and the batter’s box.

Kenzie Sayles faced a lethal line-up that had a wallop and during that 2nd inning hitting for the cycle with a home-run, triple, double, and (4) singles.

The Cougars final 3 runs resulted due to 2 errors and accounting for that final score.

CL started the game having 8 players with an at-bat and scoring 2 runs after leaving the bases loaded. That same scenario presented itself in the 2nd inning with another 2 runs scored and leaving 3 players stranded.

“I told our team that if we play like that in district play then we will be alright,” Head Coach Hayley Galloway stated. “We walked away today with confidence in knowing we can compete.”

That was the case last season after going 0-fer in this same tournament and turning that around with a district championship and going 2 rounds in the playoffs.

A tough tournament that results not being based on wins and losses.

Canyon Lake will be back in action next Tuesday when Marble Falls comes to the Hawk Nest before another weekend of tournament action.

Go Hawks!!
