CL Hawks in Horror Show after Bi-District Loss to Liberty Hill
Canyon Lake was not successful for their quest in taking down Liberty Hill as their Bi-District game had the Hawks starting with a 22 point deficit after that first period of play in losing, 85-42.
It was truly a horror story but after the first 5 minutes, the Hawk’s would know the ending and that would be able to look for a better next year and finish the book.
The Hawks needed all the offensive fire power they could muster but instead found they would be without their leading scorer in Parker Mott who happens to be the All-Time scorer for Canyon Lake.
CL also had 21 turnovers in the first half helping exasperate those horrors that had LH scoring the first 9 points to start the game, which had the Hawks, finally hitting double digit points when Sam Schimank’s bucket with 3:14 remaining before halftime.
Schimank led the whole Hawk team in scoring, 23 points to the other players totaling 19 and ending his Senior campaign with 409 points standing in the top 10 and keeping company with Mott (1st) in that exclusive fraternity.

“It was disappointing to end the season this way,” Head Coach Luke Chapman composed. “We had a good time and we battled….this was a good group of kids and it was a fun year.”
“When you look back and remember this year, then it will be those relationships that were gained and it is sad for the Seniors,” Coach Chapman closed.
Sam Schimank commented on the game and year, “I am definitely going to miss it and this was super fun.”
On what he would say to the returning players? “Enjoy your last year and play for each other.”
Trent MacRoberts had an instrumental battle in the paint with 6 rejections for what was one of the most blocks in a game since the Caleb Kreiger and Sean Nolan days.
“They were just lobbing the balls and I just went up and got after it,” MacRoberts remembered.
On what will be gained and taken after a game like this, Junior MacRoberts said boldly, “We will use this game as motivation for next year!”
The turnover bug was prevalent when MacRoberts comes from a game with more than 1 during any given contes. Does not seem like a big number but 3 turnovers by MacRoberts will tell you how no player was immune with this horror that permeated this Hawk team.
A storied career for Mott as this young man was instrumental in raising the bar in several statistical categories during his 3 year Varsity stint.

“It was hard not being there,” Mott said in response on missing his last game as a Hawk. “It was a heck of a career but I wish it would have turned out better….I loved everything about playing these past 3 years and I will always have these memories and we had fun this year!”
Canyon Lake lost to a superior team and that happens in sports but on this night the Horror Show had a Rocky feel to it.
Congrats to the Seniors and Go Hawks!!
