Canyon Lake had a successful week after the Hawk’s Tennis Team put their final CL Stamp on Burnet last Saturday winning, 6-3.
That win completed a 5-1 record for the football/Volleyball/Tennis sports during that stretch. CL will now take their 2-0 Tennis record into competition this Tuesday against Wimberley at the Hawk Nest.
This battle will be another chance against our ‘friends’ on the other side of the Devil’s Backbone in starting more friendly competition with our rivals.
Volleyball had a two game sweep over Johnson City and Blanco and will look to continue their pre-district tune-ups in District 28-4A play.
It will start with a road game on Tuesday against Austin Crockett and then San Antonio Judson will come to the Nest on Friday.
The Sub-Varsity Volleyball teams will be busy as those two weekday games with some added Tournament play in Wimberly at Tex-Fest. Games will start on Thursday and finish on Saturday.
CL’s Football crew were successful with a sweep of Marble Falls as a major key in those victories was a result of solid defense as the Varsity shut-out MF’s and both Sub-Varsity Hawk’s were able to rush to large leads before allowing touchdowns to their counterparts late in those final quarters.
Canyon Lake is in a situation that happened a few years ago, when there were enough players to form a Gold Hawk Team. This group fell to Hays JV B squad to kick-off this season’s games.
This contest was a tough one as CL Gold was pitted against a solid and older group of students which led to a washout for the Rebels. Hays was a larger team and able to control both line of scrimmages making it a tough first loss. That will not be the case for the remainder of this season as the remainder of games will be a more evenly matched battle.
Thursday is a fun time to come out and see the Future Hawks with their first play commencing at 4:30pm with a lot of Fun in the Sun!!! (Literally)
Congrats and Go Hawks!!
