Canyon Lake’s Volleyball team suffered their 2nd straight 5-Set loss to Fredericksburg on Tuesday night, 2-3. This loss throws District 28-4A into a dog fight for schools looking for a 2nd place seeding for the playoffs.

                Let’s  Go Hawks!!

This loss was different from that Wimberley set back in regards that the Hawks won the 1st & 3rd sets with chances to end the match but could not find their mojo to put this night in the win column.

That Texan loss turned out to be a two-loss ordeal as The Lake would let that Tuesday loss infect this road loss with the Billies.

Dog fight would be the operative word now as the end of the first round will end with a Friday match at Bandera.

                    Teams W L Pct GB
                    Wimberley 4 0 1.000 —
                    Boerne 3 1 .750 1.0
                    Bandera 2 2 .500 2.0
                    CL Hawks 2 2 .500 2.0
                    Fredericksburg 1 3 .250 3.0
                    Llano 0 4 .000 4.0

                         Friday’s Slate:
                         CL Hawks @ Bandera
                         Llano @ Fredericksburg
                         Wimbrerley @ Boerne

The above Friday’s battles will further shape what will need to happen for the last round of contests.

Canyon Lake will need a win over the Bulldogs to stay above the fray and an outside chance of finishing 2nd in district play. Boerne can throw this race into a quagmire with a win over the Texans but that would be a big hurdle to clear for the Greyhounds.

Canyon City Grill says Go Hawks!!

The Billies will be favored over Llano which would give them a, 2-3 record and tied with the Hawk/Bulldog losing school. An expected loss by the Greyhounds would have a tie for 2nd place with the winner of the Hawk/Bulldog battle.

Pretty simple at this junction but all you would need is an upset here or there to help mess-up this quagmire.

CL looked to have things under control in the Billie game with a relative easy first set win, but that confidence would not hold up as Freddie was able to hold on for a tough second set win, 27-25.

CL’s history with 5 set contests and having two consecutive last happened during the 2012 season and that feat happened twice during that campaign. Having three such games in a row, has never happened.

The Hawks were led by an active Caroline Kullberg, as she let the Hawks with, Kills (14)/Aces (3)/Blocks (4), during this hard fought loss.

Cassidy Felps was able to pass her sister (Kyndall) for the season record for aces but that would be the only in-house victory for the Hawks.

Canyon Lake will need to find their mojo against the Bulldogs while working on getting another win streak going to end this season with some momentum.
