overcome 31 turnovers against the Lockhart press last Tuesday night at the Hawk Gym.
The first two quarters had the Hawks within four points after committing 17 turnovers, but when the shots cooled off the lead got out of hand as the Lions raced to the 23 point win.
“We have to take care of the ball,” Freshman Head Coach Lucas Chapman said with resolve.
Skylar Tschoepe could not block enough shots to help defray the multiple turnovers, Tschoepe finished with five blocks in the contest.
“We have never played like that for this season,” Tschoepe said. “I was just in the right spot for the blocks.”
Garrett Winters finished with eight points on just one miss and Branton Kindla pitched in with seven points.
Tommy Clark and Sean Nolan both finished with six rebounds a piece.
Canyon Lake found it hard to break the press from Lockhart which resulted in more turnovers than points scored.
The Hawks will try to rectify those shortcomings as they take the courts at Comfort next Tuesday, with the tip off at 5:00 pm.
