Canyon Lake had some ups and downs during this past week of basketball action.
First the Lady Basketball team came away with splitting their games which was what was needed to keep their chances of playing in the post-season alive. District 28-4A will have 3 teams vying for a chance of being a 4th seeded school when this last round of games comes to a close in two weeks.
Bandera, Llano, and Canyon Lake will have a chance for a sweep and a stamp for that final playoff spot. The Lake would need a win on the road against Wimberley on Friday that would give this 2nd round of district games a tad easier for the Hawks.
Llano lost a close battle to Wimberley on the road the first time and if the YellowJackets can pull off an upset on Tuesday to the Texans then CL will need to match that win. Having both schools beating Wimberley would pull the Texan’s down to the 3 schools mentioned and cause an even more confusing finish to this District 28-4A second round of action.
For the Hawk Boys, they will have a tough two games with an undefeated Billie team on the road and then finishing off the first round of play at home against Wimberley. A split would put CL as a 3rd seed to finish their first round of basketball.
Soccer has the Lady Hawks with two road contests having that first battle being joined by CL Boys at San Antonio Christian this Tuesday. Then CL Ladies will be in Kerrville on Friday while the Boys welcome Pleasanton to the Hawk Nest this Friday.
Spring Tennis will be the first Canyon Lake team to start what should be a heavy dose of action as February will be opening with Softball next week and then Track & Field and Baseball next up for action pack time.
Pick a team or two and come out and support the Hawks this Spring as Basketball goes into their final 3 weeks of games that will have playoff implications.
And as always……GO HAWKS!!
