Basketball: CL Hawks Boys Lose Big in Fredericksburg, 66-11

Hawks will try to rebound this Friday when Wimberley comes to the Hawk Nest to finish the first round of District 28-4A action.

Canyon Lake had an anemic performance in Billie Land on Tuesday night after suffering a 55 point set back against Fredericksburg, 66-11.

“Really tough game,” Head Coach Lucas Chapman said realistically. “They are really good and we didn’t play well. We will make some adjustments, put it behind us and move forward. We have a big game on Friday, so we cannot let this game get to us. We have to move on and get back to playing like we know we can.”

True words, as this undefeated Billie team just needed their first period points to seal this win after shooting 18% from the floor for the game.

This loss was the worst in Hawk History based on points scored and difference….Fredericksburg made 12 shots from beyond the arc and when that shot was shelved, the Billies took residence in the paint and scored at will.

CL had 28 turnovers which helped fuel this bludgeoning against a team the Hawks could only secure 12 rebounds for the game.

Fredericksburg has won 27 straight games going into their showdown with Boerne and this was not their first time to maul a team this season. There are several carcass remains on their road so far and Coach Chapman’s wanting to move on will be great advice for the Hawks’ game with the Texans.

Wimberley will be in CL this Friday with the winner finishing 3rd for the first round of district battles.
