JV Hawk’s Baseball Stay Unbeaten after Tying Smithson Valley JV, 4-4

CLJV baseball got on the board first in the top of their 2nd inning after Andrew Miller was hit by a pitch and Austin Bowers singled. With courtesy runners in for both.

CL would have the bases loaded Bade Holland walked leaving no room for error for the Rangers.

That was quickly answered when Brandon Monk singled by a bunt that scored AI Acosta and a Hawk, 1-0 lead with still one out.

Thomas Dorman popped out the first baseman and Brayden Welch was caught looking at a 3rd strike to end this inning.

SMJV answered quickly with a lead-off walk and two doubles plated 2 runs in this back and forth battle.

After a scoreless 3rd inning, Holland would coax another walk and score on a Welch single two outs later tying the score, 2-2 going into the bottom of the 4th inning.

A quick one-two-three outs by the Hawks would keep the score deadlocked.

Gunnar Walker started the 5th inning with his line-drive double to left field that set the stage for a 2 run Hawk lead after a Bowers walk and both Hawks scoring on a pass balls that gave CLJV the lead, 4-2.

The Lake’s three errors in this game in the 4th inning helped the home team tie the score and final. 4-4.

Canyon Lake keeps their unbeaten streak in tact as their tournament continues with hopes of more wins.

The Hawks will play New Braunfels today at 400pm at Canyon High School and then again on Saturday against Canyon JV at the Hawk Nest with that contest getting started at 11am.
