District 13-4A looked pretty solid with some solid wins and, of course, one solid loss.
Lampasas is still the top dog of the district after running away from Brownwood with a 32 point victory.
The Badgers will have a step up this week by traveling to an always tough Stephenville powerhouse.
Fredericksburg went on the road and met a Monahans team half way in San Angelo. The Lobos are on a down trend and is not highly regarded this season so a 35 point win was a good win for the Billies. FHS does not have a tough opponent this week in Jarrell who was manhandled by Burnet last week, 45-6.
Speaking of Burnet, the Bulldogs will have another game against a team that they should beat when they face the Gonzales Apaches.
Austin LBJ had to cancel their first game and will not get into action until later this month. This poses to be a head scratcher on how a school would be, going into district action, without a lot of skins on the wall. Time will tell just how good LBJ will be.
Taylor was winless last season and will have some more hard knocks this season but keeping it close in their loss to Robinson bodes well for the Ducks.
Taylor will have another tough team this week in facing Rockdale on the road.
Speaking of Rockdale, La Grange was run over in their game against Rockdale, 40-14. The Leopards will be making an appearance at the Hawk Nest this week and both teams will enter this battle looking for their first win.
Canyon Lake took the 4th Ranked Texans to the brink but could not get that last yard for a win. Some injuries had several players stepping up in this loss which is a good indicator of the depth the Hawks might possess.
CL will need to break into the win column with some upcoming tough non-district games before district gets going in October.
Go Hawks!!
