World’s Finest says Hawks are Too!

Looking at this year’s results would have only one common opponent not counting the Boerne scrimmage.

Going by the results on that common opponent would indicate that The Lake is an overwhelming favorite for this Bi-District encounter.

Why? La Grange was whippersnapped by the Hawks with their best game of the year winning, 61-23. While this team is counted on the losing side for the Bears, 31-28.

Both contests were early in the season letting a casual fan that a lot of water has passed under that bridge.

Canyon Lake’s defense is starting to get a much more solid footing with many of those players being more comfortable in their uniforms. There are several Hawk players that are Sophomores on that side of the ball and those credentials as this season continues helps in that maturity and hence the improvement.

That one game (Lampasas) that the ‘D’ was lit up was to a bona-fide 2nd ranked team in Texas and allowing 40 points would give rise that the defense was up to that task in that loss.

Turnovers and penalties have been the culprits for CL’s offensive side and when those mistakes are present, then you will have a half-time score where only one touchdown was scored in ast week’s game with Burnet.

                  Hawk Proud!!

When those mistakes are minimized then you have a team that dominates the 2nd half in that same game with Burnet and win by double figures.

La Vernia will bring a 50/50 offensive unit to the field this week with 273 rushing plays compared to 234 passing. In yardage gained, the Bears, have 700 more yards via the airways.

QB Gage Lowry is not a game breaker by running and will predominately use his passing skills to do his most damage. Gage has a 61% accuracy and has thrown 29 touchdowns with only 6 interceptions.

That leading receiver is Daryl Dulak with 812 yards followed by Koy Carpenter with bout the same reception amount for 561 yards.

Running back Hunter Kitzmiller will have the bulk of hand-offs and has amassed 685 yards with 7 touchdowns. Kitzmiller has only 7 receptions and will help in protection in the backfield for the QB Lowry.

          Let’s Go Hawks!!

Jody Gonzalez is another back with a decent amount of damage with 429 yards rushing.

In that loss to La Grange the Bears turned the ball over 4 times giving reason for that loss to the Leopards.

LV does have games that had multiple turnovers and if the Hawks can force some mistakes then a win is possible with a chance to go into the Area round which last happened during that 2017 season.
