Canyon Lake Hawks Junior Varsity goes crazy in win over Marion, 84-26.

           Way to Go JV Hawks!!

“Energy!!,” Head Junior Varsity Coach Ryan Garney said enthusiastically. “From 1-14 players on our roster were awesome…we did not even have to run an offense and I loved it!”

That last comment was based on the Hawk press able to get 31 steals that resulted in a lot of lay-ups.

Brock Coburn led in scoring with 16 points with half of that total coming in that opening period.

“In our last game we had a little run but in this game we just had peddle to the metal,” Brock Coburn stated. “We just go out and go until we can not breathe and just apply energy and most of the time we do not have to run an offense. In this game we just made the team quit and that just opened our offense up.”

That pressure had the scoring table instructed to have a running clock in the final period which would explain scoring just 13 points to close out the game.

Brock Coburn taking it all in after 58 point win.

CLJV had a 34 point third period which is certainly without question the best quarter of points by any Hawk basketball team for boys and girls.

There were three other players (other than Coburn) that had double digit scoring with Travis Parma (15), Mario Aguilar (11), and Mikey Carrizales (10). All but two Hawks were able to get points in this contest.

Adrian Duque led all Hawks with 7 steals with Chase Anderson and Mikey Carrizales following close behind with 5 thefts a piece.

Energy was evident throughout the contest as the Christmas display in the central part of Marion suffering lights blowing out and causing a mystery to the families at that event.

Canyon Lake will be back in action this Friday when Lockhart comes calling with tip-off at 5:00pm.

Come prepared with sunglasses as the energy might cause a bright moments not allowing to see who might have scored.

Way to GO HAWKS!!
