CL Hawks Gold Team Can’t Keep Up with Lockhart Freshman in Loss, 58-33.

The Hawks Gold (used to be Freshman) Team could not come up with the right formula in loss to Lockhart last Friday night, 58-33.

A new offense to go along with some more changes with a line-up had Canyon Lake Gold team looking for open players as well as players that might be able to find a hot hand.
Neither played out after a decent first period but eventual loss.
Shooting 17% from the floor as well as a 37% night from the free throw line resulted in to too much damage to overcome.
There were some bright spots with 18 steals which was fun to see AJ Acosta being (literally) all over the court that had the Officials counting the number of players for CL as Acosta had the game look like the good guys had too many players on the court.
On if he (Acosta) could play one on five, “I can try,” Acosta sped through his answers. “I just wanted to do the best that I could and try to win at all cost.”
That certainly seemed possible with Acosta bouncing off opposing players and looking like (old school) a pin ball machine with a basketball.
AJ Acosta stayed still long enough for a still shot.
“We (the team) needs to be on the same page and get the ball and score,” Acosta reiterated with resolve.
After scoring 33 points, The Lake, had all but two players to get in the score book with Steven Crowder leading the team with 7 points with two 3 pointers in that first quarter.
Josh Babic led the Hawks with 7 rebounds against a Lockhart squad that had size that help fill the paint.
A better night at the foul line would have helped in staging a comeback but committing 31 turnovers buried any effort for a win on this night.
CL Gold will be back in action on Tuesday in Luling with a 5:00pm tip-off and a chance to see if this team can continue to improve on their performance and a win.
