Softball: CL Hawks Get First Win, 13-3 Over Lago-Vista

Canyon Lake Hawks bringing home first win after run ruling Lago Vista, 13-3.

Canyon Lake Softball took some time but a win finally presented itself after a, 13-3 win over Lago Vista.

              Way to Go Hawks!!

A rough start that had the first week cancelled due to The Winter Storm and then thrust into a tournament without some cobwebs still hanging around on shaking off the delay.

“I think we learned a lot as a team this weekend,” Head Coach Hayley Galloway said. “We struggled early, but I am so proud of the way the girls played our game Saturday against Lago Vista. They played the kind of softball we want to play every time we step on the field. They were confident, excited, and aggressive. We are hoping the success we experienced on Saturday will carry over into the rest of the season.”

The Hawks had a little of everything going well in this win with no errors, 10 hits and having the pitchers giving up only 2 hits.

After a 3 up and 3 down first inning, Canyon Lake, would unleash some power with two doubles. Riley Glenn-Millhouse and Gabby Barnes both had doubles to start the inning and would round the bases scoring on the Barnes double and a Madison DeLeon ground out.

The bottom of that same inning had an Emma Lane to Barnes throw out on a steal attempt that helped keep LV from scoring and keeping the lead.

Emma Lane showing off the Home Run ball hit in win over Lago-Vista.

Lane would contribute on the offensive side in the third inning with a 2 run homer which helped CL produce their best slugging game of the year when Lane doubled in the 4th inning that gave the Hawks 4 extra-base hits.

The Pirates helped The Lake with 5 errors which were a result of no Hawk strikeouts and being able to get a bat on ball throughout in this win that helped in this merry-go-round scoring.

A win that was needed for the Hawks as this crew will be on the road in Burnet on Tuesday with tournament games in Blanco at the end of this week.

All three phases were in step and a chance to continue the winning as the season matures.

Way to Go Hawks!!
