Girl’s Soccer Will Enter Post-Season Rested & Ready
The Lady Hawk Soccer team finished their best season thus far in wins and will now be preparing for Post-Season after coming up just short of a higher seed.
“As far as the district season,” Head Coach Kara Stracener started. “We ended up finishing 4th behind Boerne, Wimberley and Fredericksburg. It was some of the most difficult teams we have faced all year.”
Canyon Lake’s district has always been a tough go with those early years being pitted against 5 & 6A schools but in their own right, Those 3 schools mentioned above have held their own for many years.
“The only team that beat us twice was Boerne,” Coach Stracener continued. “It was a tight race all the way to the end.”
On Coach’s thoughts on the season? “We were up and down as far as consistency when it cam to our performance. We are just getting back to a full squad with having everyone healthy so we are glad for the break right now to have that bit of extra time to get back to health and be strong going into the playoffs.”
On who that first round contest might be against? “I am pretty sure we will play Georgetown Gateway in the first round of playoffs.”
The Gateway team will be a big hurdle to jump right off the bat as this school sports a 16-2-2 overall record and was 11-0 in district.
Good news might be how this team performed in a neutral site atmosphere as those battles the Gators their only losses and one tie, 0-2-1.
The Gators are presently on a 11 game winning streak but this situation was once conquered by the CL Boys team 5 years ago when they had one of the Hawks best upsets in any sport with a win over a stunned Salado team which had that Lake team making it to the first round of Regions.
“More important than who we play will be how we come out and play,” Coach Stracener regrouped. “With any team, you want to be at your peak when entering playoffs, both physically and mentally strong. Continue to build on all the successes that we had in this record breaking season.”
Now the Lady Hawks can add some more record breaking with a win.
Let’s Go Hawks!!
