Hawk Bats go Silent in Loss to Wimberley, 1-0

That ‘Suspect’ Play that, Man in Blue, called Gunnar Walker out to end the 6th inning with a double play.

The Hawk bats have gone silent after suffering a shut-out to open District 28-4A to Wimberley. 1-0.

World’s Finest say Hawks are Too!

Canyon Lake has scored 2 runs in their last three games and will need to find a quick remedy as the Texans will be CL’s next game this Friday.

“We had plenty of opportunities and didn’t cash in,” Head Coach Victory Escamilla surmised. “We have to be more aggressive at the plate when you are seeing quality pitches.”

With 12 strikeouts and half of those having a Hawk watching the catcher throwing the ball back to his battery mate after walking back to the dugout.

Tanner Schultz came back with a quality night on the mound with one run scoring unearned in this loss. Another contest without giving up a walk but their were 3 Texans nursing wounds after being hit by a pitch for a free pass to first base.

The Lake did have 5 hits and two Hawks finished with 2 hits with Matt McLain and Chase Anderson accomplishing that feat.

The last three innings, Canyon Lake was able to get a player into scoring positions where a single would have tied the game but two of those frames ended with a strikeout looking and that other inning was a suspect double-play.

               Let’s Go Hawks!!

Suspect by having the infield ‘Man in Blue, delaying a call before walking to the Umpire for his decision before calling an out on Gunnar Walker.

Been to countless baseball games (to many to number) and have never seen that set of circumstances for a, called out, scenario.

The Hawks will need to right their ship with this second game in two days for a chance to even up their record and continue district play.

Boerne run ruled Bandera with a 10-0 win and Fredericksburg continued their hot streak beating newcomer Davenport, 13-8.
