CL Hawks Place 11 Players on All-District Team!

Canyon Lake had 11 players who were recognized as 1st or 2nd team in District 28-4A which played out after reaching the 3rd round in post-season play.
“All-District selections are based on how the district coaches vote on our players,” Head Coach Victory Escamilla boasted. “It was clear that our guys made a big impression on opposing coaches.”
Tyler Pauly and Tanner Schultz were unanimous choices for their hard work after a season filled with heights not reached in baseball since that 2010 team that finished in the 2nd round of the playoffs.
Pauly was recognized as the Most Valuable Player in the district after finishing his 3 year career as a Hawk stalwart on the pitching mound with a 16-0 record in the past two seasons.
In the batter’s box, Pauly was the lead-off hitter during his senior campaign and responded .518 on base percentage helping set the table for being driven in for the Hawk batters that followed. With 36 base on balls, Pauly has set a new standard in getting on base.
Pauly’s, 15 extra base hits, was a bonus as he finished his career as the all-time rbi leader with 61 topping Travis Walker’s and Caleb Williams’ 44 who reached that number playing 4 years on the varsity.
All four Seniors placed on both teams with Matthew McLain as an outfielder on the First Team and Peyton McMullen (pitcher) and James LaLonde (2nd baseman) completing a well represented Hawk contingent.
Three Juniors with already mentioned Schultz who was joined by Dalton Stanley (Catcher) and Jeremy Green (outfield).
The Sophomore matched the Juniors with 3 players that completed the 11 man recipients.
Chase Anderson (short-stop) and Griffen Williams (first base) on the first team and Hunter Anderson making his mark on the district’s 2nd team at first base.
Another first for a program that will be around for many more years as the pipeline starting at Mountain Valley Middle School will continue the flow of players.
With a sport that fielded a Freshman and Junior Varsity team this past season that will help in replacing a Senior crew that set a new standard for excellence.
