Mountain Valley 7A Secure First Victory over Spring Branch, 22-14
Taking down a Wrangler for a Hawk Defense that controlled the game in Hawk win, 22-14.
Mountain Valley was able to hold on for their win over Spring Branch MS for their first win this season, 22-14.

The Hawks had a steady dose of Noah Nevarez runs that helped stave off a desperate Wrangler crew that had two scores coming on the defensive side of the ball with an interception and fumble returns for touchdowns.
The whole Hawk team had got into this game defensively in letting SB’s offense only able to muster 81 yards of total offense and 5 first downs that had 3 of those happening on their last drive while the Hawk defense was in prevent formation.
Spring Branch’s first drive went backwards negative 6 yards setting up MV’s first drive needing 64 yards for a score.
That was not a problem when Naverez 48 yard run set up a 3 yard sweep for the first score, 8-0.
“My offensive line did a good job and got some good blocks which made some really big holes,” Nevarez said when asked bout his game.
Spring Branch had a big running back that was also the Wranglers Center, on what Nevarez thoughts were when seeing this player line up in the backfield, “I was nervous and had butterflies at first but then I got comfortable and just said, ‘I got this’.”
Another, ‘I got this’, negative series for the Wranglers, this time recovering a fumble which had the Hawks needing to traverse 42 yards.

This Hawk drive had two explosive plays with Isaac Brinkley being mobbed by every Wrangler on his 11 yard first down run. Then Naverez would finish this drive going 20 yards to paydirt and a Hawk 14 point lead.
Brinkley was a defensive help after he recovered another fumble by the Wranglers and and this set up another Hawk drive that went 68 yards with 66 of those from the swift feet of Naverez giving MVMS a comfortable 22 point lead.
Spring Branch next drive went negative yardage once again when Divan Hernandez sacked the SB QB for an 8 yard loss but this time the Wranglers were able to halt MV without a first down.
MV’s defense had held Spring Branch to -41 yards of rushing before a prevent defense allowed a 22 yard run that ended the half with the 22 point lead presenting nice chance for a win.

“We were into this game and we came out much better,” Hernandez said on how many tattoos he planted on some of those opposing players in this contest. “This win feels good and hopefully we will have more to come.”
That second half was two Hawk turnovers that turned into points for the Visitors that were still shut-out on the offensive side of the ball.
The majority of SB offense was on their final drive when they traveled 72 yards before Peyton King interception that had MV celebrating their first of many more wins.
