Lady Hawks Get Must Win Over Bandera, 45-41
CL Hawks have one of largest comebacks (14 points) in win over Bandera.
Canyon Lake’s Ladies Basketball got their needed win after coming back from a 14 point deficit during the 2nd Half and finished with a, 45-41 victory.

“We just kept stressing that we were only down 10 points, that is only 5 shots,” Head Coach Zach Burleson remembered. “Stay positive and let’s keep fighting…10-12 points is not much, just keep taking the shots and let’s do a better job of covering their 3’s and limit them to one shot and rebound the ball.”
Coach Burleson continued, “I’m proud that we kept fighting. This was a good win and a great experience for our team.”
This was a battle and win that was needed as each team still has their sight for a post-season game..
The Bulldogs started this game making 3 of their 5 three pointers to open the first 4 minutes of play. That hot shooting had this visiting school enjoying 9 point lead, 12-3 with 2:34 to go in that opening stanza.
It might had been a nice January evening outside but inside the Hawk Nest, The Lake had a freezing shooting percentage, 16% from the floor and 11% beyond the arc that led to Parka’s being passed to out to warm up the crowd.
Bandera could have iced this game (pardon the pun) early but missed free throws gave The Lake a chance to make a charge and eventual win. The Dogs finished the contest 3-14 from the charity stripe in their 4 point loss.
Canyon Lake outscored Bandera 14 points but not before getting their largest lead of 14 points after a 3 point make at the 2:49 mark of the 3rd period, leading 33-19.

For the next 10 minutes of regulation Canyon Lake outscored Bandera, 26-8 for a win that keeps CL’s hopes alive with one more unplayed district game in this first round against Davenport.
The Wolves have proven they will be a handful after disposing of this same Bulldog team, 74-37. Then, in their game on Tuesday, fell to Wimberley by just 3 points, 49-46.
The Hawks were led in scoring by Sofia George 20 points with Marley Christian and Shelby Porter next with 7 points.
Some clutch playing down the stretch by Porter who tied the score at 35 points when Reese Coburn found her open at the basket. A must win game for this young upstart team as their next battle with Davenport comes this Friday on the road.
