CL Hawk’s Softball Starts District with a 13-1 Win over Wimberley

CL Hawks Softball takes instructions after game earlier this season.

Hawk Softball beat Wimberley to start their district schedule and will face two teams with a good resume in Fredericksburg and Boerne this week. Freddie will be a Tuesday home game before traveling to the Greyhounds for Friday.

                   Way to Go Hawks!!

The Lake was ranked 14th in a recent TGCA release this week.

In the Texan game, The Lake were able to score in bunches primarily due to the wildness of WHS pitcher who issued 11 walks.

Shelby Porter and Alysa Johnson were pivotable in giving CL enough punch at the bottom of their line-up as these two combined for 4 of the 6 hits.

Gabby Rivera and Jaden Castillo each led with 3 walks a piece with every Hawk reaching base at least once in their largest victory over the Texans.

Gabby Barnes pitched a gem walking one while striking out 12 combatants. It was Barnes 6 win this season as CL (14 wins) doubled their total number of victories (7) last season.

                  Hawk Proud!!

Hot bats going into district play with a team average over .400 and an on base percentage right over .500 which can result in a plethora of runs.

CL is averaging 7.6 runs per outing with players like Madison Hartman using her bunting skills while playing solid in the outfield.

“I’m bunting everrytime,” Hartman said with a grin. “I would not mind bunting with two ours but if I have to hit behind her (Gabby Barnes) then I will.”

Hartman was moved to center field this season after CL lost Jodi Glenn-Millhouse (who is playing for Southwestern Georgetown now) and has adjusted well.

Madison Hartman filling big shoes in Centerfield & batting in the 2 hole.

“In centerfield my goal is to learn the outfield because there will be times I will be going to right or left field and I just need to continue to practice it and I feel like I am coming round,” Hartman said with heart.

On how she helps in the dugout while the Hawks are batting, “We have dog toys and drums …we will do anything to get us hyped up.”

Don’t know what those dog toys have done but looking at how well the offense has played thus far then hopefully cats can rest easy.

CL will be playing the Billies Tuesday at home as they hope to continue their season on a high note.

Way to Go Hawks and Beat Freddie!!
