Canyon Lake’s Freshman team took last week’s loss personal and used their defense to control this week’s respite with a dominant win even tho that score would not indicate how convincing this victory was, 21-12.

                   Let’s GO HAWKS!!

Two Burnet passes that caught CL’s defense flat-footed that went for 36 and 60 yards being the Bulldogs only highlight.

Take those two plays away and you will get a glimpse of how dominating this win was.

Without 96 yards on those two Dog’s plays would give these visitors a total of 40 yards in 27 plays for a paltry, 1.5 yards per play. Of their 4 first downs, two of those, are counted in those touchdown passes.

Two Bulldog’s drive accumulated one first down and that last Burnet drive had that 60 yard pass coming on a 4th and 9 yards needed for a first down.

On how this Hawk Freshman team reacted to last week’s loss Head Coach Kyle Hejnicki said, “They were motivated in practice because they did not want the same result. This win will give us our confidence back.”

On thoughts on this Hawk Defense, “Our defense played great and that part of our game made it easy to call the plays.”

You get the idea on how CL would be able to win this game right before half with a 47 yard bomb from QB Jordan Scheppler to Jace Morales for a 8 point lead, 14-6.

CL’s Freshman never trailed.

On offense the Hawks used an 130 play drive on their first drive in the 2nd half that sealed the deal, 21-6. This drive had a 17 yard run by Eli Hammons and on this set of downs The Lake converted 3 third downs and none of those snaps needed to go more than two yards.

Kane Lanni, Cash Ziemba & JR Lindell Tres Amigos.

Cash Ziemba (65) just edged Hammons (60) in yards as these two backs continued to use their offensive line to take what air was in the ball completely flat to match the Bulldogs nose.

Burnet had the ball twice in the 2nd half while CL was able to drive the ball on their final drive to milk the clock dry and ready to take on their next opponent next Tuesday at the Hawk Nest.
