CL Hawks JV Drop Peanuts on Burnet Bulldogs, 38-33

The Lake’s Junior Varsity held off a furious Burnet rally in an eventual win after scoring 24 points in that 2nd quarter leaving the Hawks with a, 32-14 lead at halftime.
Way to Go Hawks!!
All of those points would be needed after an almost flawless first two quarters that saw Canyon Lake with 16 first downs and 202 rushing yards.
Flawless: No turnovers- No punts – 1 penalty for 5 yards (on an out of bounds kick-off).
Compared with just 3 first downs and 71 yards of offense for these Bulldogs.
Hence a 18 point advantage entering those last two quarters.
In those first 4 possessions Canyon Lake rebounded with a score after Burnet started on a 6 play scoring drive and quick, 7-0 lead.
The Hawks answered with abundance using a peanut play for 39 yards to the Bulldogs 3 yard line and then on what would be a familiar QB sneak (Ryder Hopper) for 3 yards and a Kaiden Lewis run for two points and Hawk lead, 8-7.

Canyon Lake would not trail for the remainder of this win after a pivotal Kaden Joyce interception and giving The Lake their next drive that went 11 plays and 67 yards and no play going more than 7 yards on this methodical drive and 16-7 lead on another QB Hopper sneak.
Ohhhh!!! That two pointer after this TD had offensive lineman Jayden Hicks catching a ricochet football coming from the sky and off several players that finished in the hands for this soon to tight-end.
But Burnet pulled out their bag of tricks on their kickoff return with a pass to the other side of the field and that Bulldog racing to the end-zone like this Dog saw a juicy bone, but still a Hawk, 16-14 lead.
And with another quick answer for The Lake this time having Lewis starting this drive on a 37 yard run then a 5 yard Hopper sneak that was followed with an Ahlman 19 yard run. CL would score two plays later and a, 24-14 Hawk lead.

Another Bulldog blunder on a muffed snap on a punt attempt ended up costing this visiting team a loss of 13 yards and giving the ball back to CL needing 27 yards.
Then a vintage slot-t 7 play drive that Lewis finished with his 6 yard run to pay-dirt and Hawk, 32-14 lead going into halftime.
Burnet would start their comeback scoring on their first drive that had CL with a 12 point lead, 32-20 with a little over 2 minutes left in that 3rd period.
Canyon Lake answered the bell once again when Ahlman used a different peanut this time rushing for 33 yards and Hawk final touchdown and, 38-20 lead.
The Hawks would need to hold on after these Bulldogs scored on one play that brought the game back to that 12 point advantage for the home team, 38-26.
A fumble on CL’s next drive on Burnet’s 21 yard line gave a lifeline to the Bulldogs who took 7 plays and scored on a 36 yard pass and now a 5 point Hawk advantage, 38-33.

Another Dog defensive stop had one last desperate chance but their last gasp fell incomplete and a win for Canyon Lake’s Junior Varsity.
Two Hawks finished passed the century mark rushing with Rand (peanut) Ahlman (149 yds) and Kaiden Lewis (104 yds). Add CL performing 15 QB Hopper sneaks for 38 yards for 3 touchdowns helped with giving a Hawk JV team a much needed win.
