Hawk Softball has a 4 Run Comeback Win over Brewer, 9-8

The Lake had 6 miscues in a game that would have been a loss 9 out of 10 times being a given.

              Let’s Go Hawks!!

But a never say die Hawk team did enough of the little things that added up for a win over a 5A Ft. Worth Brewer club.

A back and forth affair and then a 5 run 3rd inning for Brewer that erased a 3 run advantage foe CL for a 2 run separation. Then an insurance run in the top of the 5th frame put this team in a good position for victory.

Not so fast… Canyon Lake had their first 3 batters reach base without a hit before two fielder choice rbi’s put The Lake in a position for this comeback.

With 2 outs Marley Christian worked a walk to keep the game going on a full count….then Ella Thiele took one for the team when she was hit by the 3rd pitch on her at bat which led to the top of the batting order and Gabby Barnes double down the left field corner that gave CL a dramatic win.

Rianna Gonzales started the game and gave up just one earned run as the Hawk defense was not taking care of that part of the game.

Barnes entered in the 4th inning and gave up one unearned run in the top of the 5th but their uncanny comeback gave Barnes a win off the bat of Barnes.

A win after committing 6 errors will hopefully do two things for this young team….give some confidence and prioritize knowing there is more work to be accomplished in the field.
