Hawk’s Softball Finish Blanco Tourney, 2-1-1

It’s as easy as putting Bat on Ball and the Hawks will have 2 more games before district starts next week!

Canyon Lake’s Softball team finished their Blanco Tourney with a 2-1-1 record and totaled two no-hitters in a win over Austin Crockett with Gabby Barnes in the circle and a no-hitter with Rianna Gonzales pitching but giving up 4 walks would produce a loss in their game with Marion.

In Softball tournaments the games are timed and if a game goes to regulation then that would be an exception and not the rule.

So, a loss to Marion had CL with many players having just two at bat hence a no-hitter in a losing cause.

“I was happy to see the way the kids performed offensively this weekend,” Head Coach Hayley Galloway commented. “Our approach at the plate is something we have been talking about at practice. As a team, we played as solid defensively as we have all year long. I think the kids are starting to get comfortable out there.”

On thoughts with the upcoming two games this week? “This week will be a big test to see where we are at going into district play. Both Navarro and Taylor are solid teams and consistently show up in the playoffs. I’m excited to watch our team compete,” Coach Galloway closed.

               GO LADY HAWKS!!

CL’s standings in District 27-4A are below with the first 4 being penciled in to make the post-season. Another tough year against some perennial district teams such as Boerne and Fredericksburg.

Canyon Lake’s batting order had very few places that would give an opposing pitcher a break with some Sophomores and Freshman coming to the rescue.

The Lake’s biggest weakness has come in the field with errors that will give an opponent another at bat instead of an out which can lead to some big innings.

The Hawks will be on the road in Navarro on Tuesday and then Friday, Taylor will be at the Hawk Nest for a 7pm start before district gets going next week.

Canyon Lake will start district with a short drive to Wimberley a week from Friday….
