The Lake will be back in action this Saturday at 9 & 10am when they face Canyon Cougars a loss, 15-11 in their last battle.

“Very proud of how our boys have progressed this season,” Head Water Polo Coach Page Small assessed. “Defeating Pieper a second time assures Canyon Lake of a 3rd place District finish and a Bi-District play-off game.”

Coach Small enlarged, “The boys are playing complimentary water polo with their defense providing opportunities for the offense and vice versa. As our fundamentals have improved so has our record. I believe our best water polo is still ahead of us.”

For this win, The Lake, started fast jumping out for a quick, 4-0 lead with all those goals scored during the opening 3 minutes of play. That would continue thru this whole game as CL would outscored or tied the Warriors each quarter and led at half, 11-4.

Goalie Greyson Patton finished with 8 saves after having 2 per quarter and attacker Levi Garner finished as high point scoring in double figures, 10 with one assist. Garner finished this game being successful for 77%  of his shots on goal.

                      Let’s Go Hawks!!

Tristan Evans was next Hawk on the scoring totem pole with 3 goals and 1 assist.

Cole Coffee filled his stat sheet scoring 2 goals, 2 assists, and tied for the team with Milo Martin-Rider getting 3 steals after seeing what Coach Small gleamed bout that Hawk defense.

The second half was a tighter affair with The Lake winning those last two quarters, 7-5 but that lightning fast start was the key for this game.

Pieper did get back within 6 goals to start the 2nd half, 11-5 but CL would outscore the Warriors 3-1 to finish that quarter and increased their final 9 goal difference with Patton’s goal with :47 seconds showing on the clock.

Canyon Lake ‘Hawk’ Proud!!

A Hawk win over Canyon on Saturday could move CL up to a 2nd seed which would be ideal as a 5 goal loss in that first go round could be flipped.

Davenport is the class of district and your Hawks have 3 games left before the playoff’s commence!!
