CL Hawk’s Water Polo Beat Johnson in Bi-District Play, 19-6

WATER POLO BI-DISTRICT CHAMPS CANYON LAKE

The Hawk’s had a good introduction to their Post-Season game after a solid win over Johnson, 19-6.  With the next game a Area Round will take place in enemy territory, at the Westlake Aquatic Center this Thursday starting at 6:30pm.

                             Go Hawks!!

Canyon Lake had an idea of what this Bi-District opponent would be after disposing this same team earlier this season, 21-8 for their first win of this season.

The Lake (7-4-1) will be facing a 6A Westlake team who are on a 14 game winning streak and ranked 8th in the State of Texas.

“The team played with a sense of both focus and energy today,” Head Coach Page Small started. “We had a plan for what we wanted to run offensively going into the game and Johnson did a great job disrupting our early efforts. Se we had to change a few things and adapt our offense to what the defense was giving us. Our boys did a great job of adjusting on the fly and that was a big difference in the outcome of this game.”

Hence CL finished that first quarter up by just one goal, 4-3 and after those adjustments the Hawks outscored this first round opponent, 15-3.

Go Hawk’s We Can Fix Your Leaks!!

Goalie Greysen Patton had his best game with 15 saves which certainly helped after CLHS finished working out those offensive wrinkles and what turned out to be a comfortable victory.

Milo Martin-Rider and Levi Garner combined with 15 goals and 4 of the Hawks 9 steals in the win that helped on both sides of the pool.

Other Hawks came out of the woodworks seeing Jackson Alvarez scoring 2 goals. Chief Rendon and Dionysio Villavicencio finished high point with 2 assists a piece completing this dominant battle.

Canyon Lake ‘Hawk’ Proud!!

Canyon Lake finished this first round outscoring Johnson, 11-2 in that 2nd Half as the Jaguars could not find a consistent offense that could break through for any type of a run and possible upset chance.

This next round will be tough but not impossible as each game has seen a confident Hawk contingent still improving.

Austin Anderson (19-5-1) beat Johnson last week by this same score and right before that win Anderson was within 2 goals of tying Westlake (14-1) losing, 16-14.

Anything is possible and make us Proud Hawks!!
