Canyon Lake has scored in the first inning in 6 of their last 8 contests scoring 20 runs total which was the catalyst in helping The Lake with a convincing victory.

“We were fortunate to get runs in the first (inning) and that put pressure on Davenport,” Head Coach Victor Escamilla said. “Our top of the batting order is pretty solid and we need to get quality at bats down the line-up. The pitching and defense has been good this season and we can do better with our bats.”

Luke Roskin had his 3rd win of the season as he gave up 3 hits and no earned runs which kept Davenport in a catch-up scenario throughout.

                             Go Hawks!!

These Wolves were also rated 8th in the THSBCA Poll which proved to be CL’s best win this season and will have another tough outing in on Wednesday when the Boerne Greyhounds come to town. This school is rated in the top 15 in the THSBCA poll and 8th in the Texas High School Baseball poll.

Roskin started this game with a single and Williams had a one out single before Michael Anderson continued his battle with another baseball that found his body before his bat. It was Anderson’s 6th hbp this season and 3rd in his last two games. This pitcher miscue loaded the bases.

With two outs Brent Torres had an rbi single and that was followed by Hayes Holladay (who was a courtesy runner for Anderson) scoring on a passed ball.

Ryan Reyna capped the scoring with his single that scored Torres giving Canyon Lake enough runs (4) for this eventual, 9-2 win.

Canyon Lake rebounded from their 1-4 weekend tourney with a much more important win as district battles will now be the schedule and CL is tied with Boerne with 2 wins.

Boerne and The Lake will battle it out on WEDNESDAY at 6:00 being the first pitch due to possible rain coming later this week.

Way to GO HAWKS & BEAT BOERNE!
