CLJV Beat Kennedy as Rockets Run Out of Fuel, 32-0

                   CLJV regroup after end of game and Hawk, 32-0 win over Rockets. Go Lake!

Canyon Lake’s Junior Varsity used an array of offensive weapons in win over Kennedy Rockets, 32-0.

That first weapon was an ‘offensive’ defense that capitalized after winning the trenches in allowing a paltry 62 total yards and 4 first downs for the Home team that gave little help in putting together a drive of any length for these Rockets.

CL’s offense took the wind out Kennedy starting with those first and second drives for scores and a quick, 16-0 lead.

That first drive covered 69 yards with one explosive play when QB Hayes Holladay found Gavyn Baldera for a 25 yard catch and run score. There were a lot of dance moves on this night as Baldera and Holladay would connect on 5 plays in the flats that had a lot of dance moves to coax more real estate.

Baldera finished this night with 91 receiving yards and that one score.

Running Back Ryder Smith would supply another form of weaponry with 16 battering runs finishing with 86 rushing yards and CL’s second score.

Weapon #3 was seeing Running Back Divan Hernandez delve out a bruising 4 yard touchdown run and then seeing his second act as an inside linebacker. Pain….

Receiver C.J. Rodriguez scored the Hawks 3rd TD with a wide open 32 yard reception and then a Ryan Reyna 18 yard catch and run for the Hawk’s final score and, 32-0 night.

These Rockets averaged rushing 1.2 yards per carry and two completions covering 20 yards that was a CL dominating evening.

JFK’s two longest drives occurred at the end of both halves ending after running out of downs.

Hawk’s defense scored a safety and harassed the Rocket’s QB the whole game as their Rocket just ran out of fuel.

CLJV will be back in action at the Hawk Nest when Fredericksburg comes to The Lake next Thursday.
