CL Hawk’s Freshman Finish Season with Win over Pleasanton, 24-22

Freshman Hawks winning in the Trenches, 24-22.

CL’s Freshman finished this season with a marked improvement by piling up wins that will set up an off-season for more improvement as that, ‘Proverbial’ Light, was switched on during each week with these Freshman experiencing their fruits of all the hard and labor that began in August.

                   Way to Go Lake!!

Pleasanton was not an easy out when they responded with vengeance after a Hawk 10 yard run from Brayden Sullivan that stretched The Lake’s lead to what was thought an easy win with Canyon Lake still leaving 8:26 still left on the clock and a, 24-8 lead.

That was when these Eagles caught lightning in a bottle…with less than 3 minutes on the clock they were able to score on a 4 play drive that covered 45 yards. With two explosive plays on runs for 13 and 36 yards which was finished off on a final 6 yard run and with a successful 2 point conversion was now within 8 points, 24-16.

CL could not coral an onside kick which had these visitors still showing life with 48 seconds remaining, after a 3 yard run, it was a pass for 40 yards that had Pleasanton on the Hawk’s 13 yard line.

Hit Man way to get those Pests Hawks!

These Eagles rode that momentum for a 12 yard run to the one yard line.  Still needing to convert a two point after attempt would result in a tie.

CL’s defense was able stop these Eagles with an incomplete pass and a final regular season game victory that had these Hawks releasing a heavy sigh in this hard brow beating contest.

A good game for QB Damon Garcia who was 8 for 12 covering 169 yards and a 40 yard bomb to Kobe Halverson and then a 53 yard catch and run for Dario Faz.

Faz led the receivers with 3 catches for 98 yards while throwing in a 12 yard jet sweep that was the instrumental play for CL’s first drive which also showed a Faz 27 yard reception as all of his touches but one run turned out to be an explosive play.

Halverson’s 40 yard catch was also helped out by his 32 yard jet sweep during that 3rd Hawk drive that was driven home when Faz used his speed for that 53 yard reception.

The Lake’s last scoring drive had Sullivan finger prints all over this 51 yard drive. Sullivan had 3 runs covering 26 yards and a 25 yard reception. Two of those explosive plays came after the Eagles defense set the Hawks back 14 total yards.

Way to GO LAKE & the Hawk Nation can’t wait to see more improvement next season. CONGRATS!!
