Finish 2nd in a Two-Day Tourney against several 5A & 6A Schools! Go Lake!

Canyon Lake has a chance to, ‘go where no other Hawk Team has ever gone before’ as this year’s Boys Golf team made a big statement in a two day event that had several larger schools participating.

“Our Varsity Boys Golf completed in the Concan Boys Invitational at Rio Valley Ranch Golf Club over the weekend,” Head Coach Ryan Garney relayed excitedly. “Over the 2 day Tournament the boys finished 2nd overall. Some of the best 6A and 5A schools from around the state competed.”

The five some golfers were Roger Rodriquez, Jacob Tuckness, Tristen Evans, James Cornell, and Trey Rasor.

The Lake were led by Rodriques who finished 7th overall with a score of 73 on Friday ad an 80 on Saturday for a two day score of, 153.

Tuckness finished 10th shooting a 77 & 81 for 158 score….Evans finished 15th with an overall score of 162 (84 first day/78 second day).

                         Way to Go Lake!!

This was a first for The Lake to place at this prestigious tourney….much less placing at the 2nd School Overall.

Consistency is a major ingredient in every sport but golf that consistency is at a premium for a team that has 5 individuals playing as a team.

“Our kids have been up and down all year but this was some of the best golf they’ve played,” Coach Garney birdied. “These were good schools we beat. Normally we get beat pretty bad but this group is playing well.

The Hawk Ladies had a decent outing this past week also, “Our Girls took 2nd place at the Pieper JV Invitational at Rebecca Creek,” Coach Garney glowed. “Our girls were led by Kailey Morgan, Caledonia Beatty, Chayce Standifer, Trinity Turner and Reese Dawley.”

Coach Garney continued, “It was great to get these girls some experience and realize they enjoy playing good. Several of the girls had never played a full 18 hole tournament and it was exciting to see them have so much fun and bring some hardware home. I hope this sparks a desire to get even better.”

Some good happenings as Golf starts to raise The Lake. Just be careful and not let it get too high…a water hole is hard enough.

Way to GO LAKE!!
