Lady Soccer Standings & Musings After First Week of Battles

Time for (some Jethro Bodine) deciphering after first week of The Lake’s Ladies Soccer escapades.

The two polls below have been released and Canyon Lake went down from #1 to #2 in the Girls Coaches Association Poll. This is despite The Hawks winning their only contest in convincing fashion over Fredericksburg, 4-1.

Davenport (1-1) and Marble Falls (0-2) made the furtherest drop this week where Davy is now 19th after losing to the Texans and the Mustangs completely dropped form the top 25 list. What seems odd is MFalls dropped with a one goal loss to Wimbo (0-1) and newbie Long Creek.

So these high rankings seem to still be in a ‘we don’t really know’ time of season.

Long Creek put their name in the hat when they shut-out Marble Falls posing another school ready to make a mark.

It’s simple knowing that a district as loaded as CL’s has potential of seeing all these teams drop if their circular firing squad with District 26-4A schools beating each other with each week of battles.

The ReSporter would put more confidence in the MaxPreps Poll as that seems more in tune as a power poll and not based on opinions like the Coaches Poll.

Time will tell as this week The Lake will have Senior night this Tuesday when they welcome Bandera to the Hawk Nest and then this Friday will be a showdown playing Wimberley in a battle between two top 4 opponents.

The Lake tied Wimberley in both of their outings last season for a team who played on the Final Four last season.

Having all four schools getting to a Regional Semi-Final round that would have District 26-4A teams playing in a final four semi-round.

Should be a fun run to March when the best rise to the top.
