The Lake’s Ladies won their 2nd Meet this season scoring 191 points against a combined 7 schools.

The Jump’s Events had this Hawk team cashing in 50 points with the relays scoring 44 points which included two first place finishes in the 4×100 & 4×200 category.

The Sprints also pitched in 44 points with the Hurdle’s bringing in 28 and Distance 24 points.

There was a lot of Gold this week starting with those two relays and then individual Gold by the following:

Aubrey Avey          200 & 400 meter dash
Kennedy Grindle 100 & 300 meter hurdles
Savanna Oberholtzer long & triple jumps
Te’a Gonzales 100 meter dash

Julia Pena with JV a PR on her high jump for a first place medal.

Those Athletes in the two sprint relays were:
4x100 4x200
Aubrey Avey Savanna Oberholtzer
Te’a Gonsales Mia Zabarecencu
Kennedy Grindle Shana Cutrer
Savanna Oberholtzer Te’a Gonzales

This Panther Relays had one less school than Canyon Lake’s Relays last week minus Dripping Sprints which aided in scoring more points.

Head Coach Sami Theurer said in response to this meet and having Aubry Avey not running her bell-cow 300 meter hurdle’s event, “We wanted to use the 400 meter to help Avey work on getting out in her 300 hurdle, including endurance. She was a bit disappointed she did not hit 58 seconds.”

Avey is the third Hawk to break the 60 second barrier as the now University of Houston trackster Ahren Lightfoot’s (56.77 at the 2024 State Meet)set that all time mark. A few years back it was Skylar Hurst being the first to reach this milestone after racing around the cinders with a, 58.28 back in 2017.

The Lake will be in action again March 5th at Davenport Relays and those Field events get going at 1:00pm along with that 3200 meter race where Canyon Lake continues their strong distance team.
