Lady Hawk’s Soccer Make Wimberley UPSET in a, 3-1 Loss

Hawks win at Wimberley, 3-1 to keep chance for a District Title.    Go Lake!

Way to Make us Proud Hawks!

Canyon Lake’s Ladies Soccer Made Wimberley UPSET-3-1 in a payback contest avenging that first district round loss for The Lake, 3-1.

The Hawks scored first in that first contest and Wimberley scored 3 goals in the second half for a win. Wimberley scored first during that second contest and The Lake responded scoring 3 goals in that second.

The ReSporter has this road win ranked in the Top 3 of All-Time including all Lake sports.

Looking at the rankings based on MaxPreps’ matrix below can give a good idea the distance between these two schools….yes, MaxPreps is by no means 100% accurate but seeing how they have info on schools all over…it does share an area code worth of schools with an approximate estimation.

Rankings Canyon Lake Wimberley

These Texans certainly had an impressive resume by looking below showing just one team played, Lockhart… being under water record wise and not having any post-season aspirations.

Canyon Lake now has won a contest that shows they too might be in a position for a good run this playoff season.

                    Way to Go Lake!

“These girls are pretty humble but hard working…and honestly I am pretty hard on them,” Head Coach Kara Stracener stated. “I hope after last night and beating a really good team like Wimberley it brings them a new confidence going into these last few games of district and into post-season.”

Confidence would be that key word for this win as The Lake’s 3 goals was also the most scored against these Texans this season.

Savanna Oberholtzer scored the first two goals to start that 2nd Half and now has reached 54 with still 3 more district battles to add to her record setting season.

                   High Noon says GO LAKE!

“We knew that wasn’t our best half,” Oberholtzer stated when asked about being behind going into halftime. “It was s reality check and we set out to get to every ball first and then try to score.”

Oberholtzer scored two second half goals within an 8 minute span and then Kylee Morrow had a crowning shot from 25 yards from the left side of the goal that curved right over the Texan Goalies hands settling at the right-side of the goal with right at 4 minutes remaining.

“We were all excited,” Oberholtzer quipped when seeing Morrow’s shot. “This is a huge rivalry and it was exciting to see that we have a chance to finish first in district if we can win our next three games.”

               Way to Go Lake Soccer!

Coach Stracener’s parting shots, “Two of our goals were from over 25 yards and Kylee is a very unselfish and will pass many times over shooting….Glad she chose to shoot tonight cuz we needed her too. Like last time we played them we wanted to make it a messy game. Not allow them to get into a rhythm and try to frustrate them. We ‘weathered the storm’ the first half. Wimberley came out Very Strong and we struggled to get control of the middle….but halftime was a good reset and the girls did a fantastic job of digging deep and fighting back till the end. We played a good full 80 minutes this time around.”

Canyon Lake Hawk Proud!

Now The lake’s season goals are still attainable with this win having a chance for a district championship, going further in the playoffs and Canyon Lake’s 2026 squad now took the sole lead with wins in a season sitting with 17 so far.

The Hawks still have 3 games remaining and none of these battles will be a cakewalk which will equate in needing 3 more complete 80 minutes of game time.

Congrats and Way to GO LAKE!
