Congrats Lady Hawk Track & Field!

The Canyon Lake’s Girls Track team does not possess depth like many schools they compete against.

District foe Fredericksburg is a school that always has a plethora of students in each event which allows this school to score well in most of their meets due to their amount of students competing.

Track scored the first 6 in each event and those athletes that finish 4th-5th-6th will in total add enough points for a team victory.

There were times in the past that the Billies would outscore The Lake by 50 or more points in district but lose many of those points as they competed in Area-Regional Meets.

            Way to GO FAST HAWKS!

That would allow CLake to score more points at the Regional Meet due to having enough Hawks scoring in those meets giving The Lake the edge over Freddie.

Canyon Lake has now won their last three meets, not with depth, but with star power.

This Wolves’ Meet had the same result involving 7 athletes who combined to score 131 of those points or 77% of that total of 170 points.

In this Meet The Lake finished first in 6 of the events led by distance runner Eva Zabarcencu’s win in the 1600-3200 meter runs.

                       Let’s GO FAR LAKE!

Te’a Gonzales, Kennedy Grindle and Aubrey Avey had two first place finishes that included the 4×100 meter relay.

This Meet was a One-Two Punch of sorts when taking in the days finished product.

In that 3200 run had Eva Zabarcencu and Sophie Eastland finishing 1st & 2nd.

100 meter dash had Gonzales & Savanna Oberholtzer finishing 1st & 2nd.

300 meter hurdles had Avey & Grindle finishing 1st & 2nd.

100 meter hurdles had Kennedy & Cutrer finishing 1st & 2nd.

Pole Vault had Gindle & Katelyn Lowth finishing 2nd & 3rd.

Those events add up to 86 points which has Canyon Lake finishing ahead of all but 2 other schools. The 2025 State Champion Randolph and 5A Kerrville Tivy.

                          Plug those Leaks Lake!

The Lake first place finish in the 4×100 relay was aided with a 3rd place 4×200 relay and a revived 4×400 relay who turned in their best finish this season finishing 2nd place.

So those three relays were a One-Two-& Knock-out Punch garnering, 38 points adding up to 124 points that topped Tivy’s 112 point final tally.

So, Freshman Sophie Eastland’s  6th Place (1 point) finish in her 1600 Meter Run would have Canyon Lake adding those depth point(s) up when facing tougher group of schools in the future.

The Lake will be off these next two weeks before finishing their last non-district meet in Wimberley on Thursday March 26th.

A short drive to watch a salty group of ladies before the meets that count  in April

Way to GO~Fast~Jump Far & High Hawks!
