Hawk’s Baseball Muster Another Win, 8-5 Over Bandera

         Way to GET HITS HAWKS!

The Lake was missing two starters (pitcher & catcher) in a must(er) win contest against Bandera and came through with flying colors as Cullen Barnhart pitched 4 innings giving up one unearned run while Archer Miller was his battery mate in this conquest.

It was Barnhart’s first appearance in an official game this season which became a, ‘where has this pitcher been all season’, thoughts of grandeur.

Eight strikeouts and no walks was the perfect formula needed for The Lake while getting some help from Bandera’s pitchers who issued 9 walks while hitting three batters being enough for CL’s six hits to capitalize in scoring 8 runs.

Canyon Lake came into this contest one day later due to weather and knew that the team they are chasing for a play-off spot had won their opening game with Fredericksburg.

                Congrats Lake Baseball.

Long Creek’s  win presented a must(er) win battle with these Bulldogs needing a sweep as the only chance to realize entry to post-season.

Now, The Lake, will be doing some scoreboard watching this Friday in Bandera while needing a win and loss for Long Creek to have a play-in contest this Saturday for that final spot.

It was the same scenario last year too…as the Hawks had to play Fredericksburg for that play-in game ironically in Wimberley where this contest was conducted after all the much needed rain.

             Proud of you Hawks!

Gram Simpson started this game getting hit by a pitch (hbp)  which allowed Simpson to own most hbp’s, passing Tanner Schultz,  with 22 for his career.

Simpson (64) was not finished tho…after working a walk later in this game which also put him #1 with that stat,  passing Tyler Pauly and Carter Williams, who finished their career with 63 base on balls.

All this to say that Simpson has been a good lead-off batter with his ability to reach base as he stands tied at 5th place all-time with Brandon Robinson who has a .505 On Base Percentage (OBP).

Carson Walker scored his 30th run thus far which is just two away from having 2nd place in runs scored for a season. Carter Williams scored 44 runs last year and Walker needs just one run in tying Hunter Anderson (’23)/Gram Simpson (’25).

Pitcher Greysen Patton did enter this must(er)  game during that last inning with two Bulldogs on base and no outs. Patton stayed in his tank striking out the side for a save.

A lot on the line this Friday’s, must(er) win game, to see if there might be more games in the future for this Hawk club.

Let’s GO LAKE!
