Hawk’s Pitching BeLittle’s Bandera in, 13-5 Win

Jacob Little was huge helping The Lake have chance making post-season.  Go Lake!

              GO LAKE Baseball

The Lake garners a play-in game with their 13-5 win over Bandera thanks to not so Little Jacob pitching 6 innings in giving up one run while striking out 7 Bulldogs.

Yes, Jacob Little was helped by a flood of runs the top of the 6th frame as The Lake batted around while scoring 9 runs and now a date this Saturday at 2:30pm in New Braunfels’ High School against Long Creek.

The winner will have their dance card for more games in the post-season. The Lake could run their consecutive play-off seasons to six years.

                  Let’s GO LAKE!

This Bandera contest was testy after, The Lake, took a 3 run lead to start this game but these Bulldogs answered with 2 runs and then added another 3 runs in that second inning which had Head Coach Victory Escamilla changing pitchers and inserting a Freshman who started his first ever varsity action.

Head Coach Victor Escamilla had this to say about Jacob Little’s pitching, “I’ve seen him enough in the sub-varsity where I had seen him with four (types of) pitches and he throws them for strikes. He’s like a coach on the field…and I told one of my coaches in the dugout, ‘When that kid graduates then I want him as one of my assistants.’  He’s always coaching and he wants to learn the game.”

            Break the Dam~ Lake!

Coach Escamilla wasn’t finished, “He can slow down the game by shutting down the run game because he can hold them to a one way lead because, there is a lefty throwing.”

Jacob Little took the BIG Stage on the mound and after giving up a run on a sacrifice fly then those jitters would be gone until that final out in the seventh frame.

Mr. Little, after his first entrance to the mound would settle in by giving up a walk (3rd inning), single (4th inning)…without any damage and then followed with a 3-up & 3-down in the 5th and 6th frame accumulating 4 strikeouts during those two innings.

Meanwhile the Lake was down 2 runs and was able to answer with one score in the third when Ryan Rena doubled and scored on a Bryce May single. These two players combined for 6 hits and 6 rbi’s in this win.

It was in that 6th inning that had Bandera’s pitcher ran out of pitches and then CL took care of the Bulldogs bullpen. Canyon Lake had 13 Hawks coming to the plate which was highlighted with a towering triple off the bat for May-Day knocking in two of those runs.

The Lake had 4 consecutive hits after Gavyn Baldera was robbed after being called safe beating out an infield hit…. but an umpire conference ruled that play an out.

It would be Archer Miller legging out another infield hit as speed kills and that was CL’s main helping hand for this game. The Lake coasted while not allowing any more runs and another Hawk must win battle.

Now another contest on Saturday at 2:30pm at New Braunfels High School in realizing hopefully another play-off year!

Way to Go Lake!
