Hawks Baseball Final All-Time Season/Career & Hit Don’t Sit
Canyon Lake’s Baseball team was ousted from the playoffs after being swept by a very good Floresville Tigers team.
You could make a point that The Lake had been in a playoff mode since before district was finished as they had amassed a, 1-7 district record with just two schools remaining on their district schedule.
Needing to win was put in place then as CL then finished with a 5-1 record before this final series with the Tigers.
Some of that turn-a-round came about when pitcher Cullen Barnhart being able to pitch after being injured and not able to perform on the mound.
In fact, this season The Lake used 12 different pitchers which was the most in Hawk history in trying to find two pitchers who could represent your two district weekly games.
Head Coach Victor Escamilla commented on this year’s seniors, “A lot of these seniors played on varsity for three years and played a big part and gave us a lot of leadership and led on the field with communicating our expectations.”
CLake will be losing all three outfield positions and Coach Escamilla commented on what expectations for next year’s team, “These kids already know that we will have holes in the out-field and we are going to have a place for you if you can put the work in for those spots.”
“Our pitching will be a big question mark too and we will just have to get going there and find our hitters who can excel in the outfield and if you can hit then you don’t sit….we will find a place for you,” Escamilla was quick to his point.
Seeing how well Barnhart performed during this past month will give hope for one spot on the pitching mound as well as seeing Freshman Jacob Little and Sophomore Jace McGoldrick putting up some impressive work on the pitching mound.
Ryan Rena was on fire during these past two months and looking below you will see how his maturation has blossomed this past campaign.

Head Coach Lee Self for CL’s Green Squad was glowing with how well this team performed as well as a
Gold team players that could make a significant jump with another year of off-season work and growth.
Just a matter of time and a chance for many of those sub-varsity players to put the work in and as Coach Escamilla said earlier, “If you can hit then you won’t sit!”
