The Lake Huddle Up after first Scrimmage comes to a close! Go Lake!

Go Lake & OK Corral Your Opponents this season!
Canyon Lake showed promise in their first scrimmage against Burnet at the Hawk Nest this past Friday in what turned out to be a very comfortable night with pleasant weather.
Another comfortable feeling had The Lake finishing strong as each 8 minute session continued through the evening.
CLHS showed a very strong passing game and the running part of the offense was evident especially at the end of this scrimmage.

GO LAKE
“Thought the kids played with a lot of emotion we got better and better as the scrimmage went along which is a huge plus, the intensity was good….Burnet is always a good football team I always like to scrimmage those guys to see where we are,” Coach Parker started. “I won’t get to see those answers (on how well the team did) until I come into tomorrow and watch video. But I was pleased with the intensity…I was pleased with the improvement as the game went on and I thought we threw and caught the ball well and we still need to continue to get better in our running game but overall I could not have been more pleased with the kids.”

Break the Dam~ Lake!
Defensive Coordinator Coach Kurt Sloan shared his thoughts for the defensive side of the ball, “Scrimmage is about evaluation so we want to get the kids out there and see what they can do and we try not confuse them with scheme and we saw some plays that did not execute but later on they did and with the young guys that is all we are looking for and we want them to calm down and figure it out and go play football and go get tackles.”
When asked bout seeing improvement, “Yeah…it will be next week when we will be able to see that big gauge from that first to second scrimmage we should see a lot of improvement and if we don’t then we have to go back and work even harder.”
The long wait for football season started with a large crowd of Hawk fans in attendance and now another week of work before their last scrimmage at Veterans Memorial next Friday with the same start times.
Let’s GO LAKE!
