Baseball: Hawks Lose to Bulldogs, 5-1

The Canyon Lake Hawks take another tough loss to Bandera last Friday night in the ‘Dog pound, 5-1.

The Hawks scratched across one run in the third inning staking a short lived lead against the home team.

J.J. Nance led off the inning with a base hit and was brought in by the hot hitting Travis Walker.

The lead was short lived as Walker who was also the pitcher could not keep the door closed as Bandera answered with two runs that same inning.

The game was within reach throughout the contest as Walker held Bandera to six hits.

Three errors by Canyon Lake allowed the Bulldogs to put together five total runs but two of the runs were unearned in the contest.

Canyon Lake loses all three game of the series which will also put some must wins for the Hawks to not lose too much ground in the longer District 26-3A race.

Each team plays three games per team which adds five more games than previous years.

The youth of this team is taking it on the chin, but the long term rewards will come of age. The question is when will this start to take hold…hopefully sooner rather than later.
