JV Hawks Shoot Off Fireworks in Defensive Win, 13-7

QB Jake Stringer goes for a homer to Hayden Gemar in win over Billies, 13-7

Every Hawk Needs a Nest~ GO LAKE!

The Lake’s Junior Varsity had just enough fireworks in a 6 point win, 13-7

Canyon Lake’s JV started on defense and presented a statement 3 plays and punt sequence that would play out for most of this battle.

CL then started their first series on their 33 yard line and 3 penalties later found themselves needing 30 yards for a first.

The Lake drew up a wheel~route that had Hayden Gemar wide open down the home teams sideline and after receiving a pass from QB Jake Stringer~~~Mr. Gemar would start his trek to the goal line 90 yards away…which produced a quick 6 point lead with two minutes off the clock.

Now That’s a Great Game of Hauling!

That is where defense would become  dominant for remainder of these first two quarters. It was a combined 6 punts before a late half score for Freddie giving a one point lead for the home team going into half, 7-6.

Defensive Back Zachary Knox would put an exclamation point on Lake’s defense with an interception that closed down that last Billie drive before refreshments.

The Lake would have first possession to start their third frame and another firework play that had Stringer finding Gemar on a post route for 60 yards in what would be the winning touchdown. Thanks to a stout Lake defense.

Gemar ended this game with 6 receptions for 211 yards while QB Stringer had 235 yards through the air.

With the game still on thin ice it would be the Billies’ next drive that would highlight some strong fireworks for the Hawk defense.

This Billie drive would take the rest of the third quarter with 17 plays and before punting after reaching The Lake’s 44 yard line. That Billie drive was an overdose of running snaps, in a 3 yards and a cloud of dust, drive.

Two of the next three Freddie drives would end with interceptions one coming from Wyatt Galvan on the Hawk’s 31 yard line and then an ending INT for Dallas Huth that sealed this victory.

A defensive win that had a lot’s of fireworks through the air for both Hawk’s defense and offense.

The Lake will be back in action in Kerrville next week as they continue to come together as a team with some solid improvement.

Way to GO LAKE!
