Hawks Take Bite out of Gators for Area Crown

Canyon Lake won their Area Round over Gateway, 3-1 and will now be in action this Thursday against Cuero in a Regional Semifinal match-up in Luling.

It did not take The Lake long to come out of the gate with a barrage of energy and a convincing first set with a, 25-12 outcome.

Six aces highlighted this first set and Hayley Mechler (13) and Kylee Goff (16) each with 3 kills to get this night going.

This first set ended when Izzy Fory’s service scored during a seven point rally that had a block and kill for Presley Wheeler and a kill for Chylea Gray as well as one of Kylee Goff’s kills.

It was this second set that had a Jeckel/Hyde sequence when CLake enjoyed a, 21-14 advantage before a Gator bite scored 11 of the next 13 points leaving a whole different vibe with this match tied, 1-1.

That 3rd set was similar as CLHS enjoyed another lead, 18-11 with this battle needing a Mechler kill that sent the Hawks needing one set for the match, 25-20.

Canyon Lake would return on how they started this evening having their way against Gateway running out to another decent lead when Paisleigh Fahrney took her service rally with the scored tied at 5 all and getting separation with a, 10-5 lead. That was followed with 4 of the next 5 serves with three 3 points and one 2 point rally.  That result got the bus turned on for a victory ride home, 25-14 finish. It was CL that found that a Hawk Bite was lethal in this Area Round battle.

The Lake had a Los Vegas night dealing out 19 Aces~ as they held a gun under their table just in case Gateway would decide to release a Gator.

Luckily this Gator team had no teeth and the Hawks would be planning their Regional Semifinal contest against a Cuero Gobbler team that will be close to Thanksgiving and a Turkey dinner.

Three Hawks filled in admirably that had 3 other front line Hawk’s out for the season as a MASH unit.

It was Kylee Goff with 16 kills ~ ~ Haley Mechler 13 kills ~ ~ Bella Biasatti 9 kills that was needed as Wheeler keep dealing aces and sets for a great ending in this win.
